By Jessica Browner
NEW HAVEN -- The Goodspeed Musicals revival of Brigadoon has been named Outstanding Production of a Musical, and Big Love at Long Wharf the Outstanding Production of a Play, by the Connecticut Critics Circle for the 2000-01 season. The 11th-annual awards ceremony honoring outstanding contributions to Connecticut Theatre will be held June 24 at the Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.
Brigadoon also won awards for director Greg Ganakas and choreographer Peggy Hickey, while musical awards for actor and actress went to John Scherer for Goodspeed's revival of George M! and Kristen Howe for the Downtown Cabaret Theatre production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, respectively.
Big Love took home additional awards for actress Lauren Klein and director Les Waters. Klein tied in Best Actress honors with Anne Dudek of the Hartford Stage's The Glass Menagerie, while Jeremy Shamos took Best Actor honors for another Hartford Stage production, Baptiste: A Life of Molière.
